Built by The Creative Collective NYC, the CultureCon is dedicated to creating access for diverse creatives and will be jam-packed with skill-building workshops, can’t miss activations, and endless networking opportunities. Leading up to the conference, guests can sign up for the chance to attend CultureCon Week — an offering of exclusive events and experiences leading up to the big weekend. This year will introduce the first-ever Creative Career Job Fair, where attendees can meet with recruiters and learn about career opportunities in real time. Max, Walmart, Shea Moisture, Clinique, NBCUniversal, Google, and Kickstarter are all confirmed to participate. The two-day event will end with the first-ever Creative Block Party hosted by American Express.

As part of their dedication to creative collaboration, CultureCon has partnered with Foot Locker for a limited edition capsule collection entitled “Big Things Start Small.” The collection pays homage to CultureCon’s humble origin story as it evolved into a global community dedicated to fostering a community of diverse creatives. Featuring the mantras “Nothing Moves Without Us” and “We Are Culture,” the message of this capsule champions the monumental impact of Black and Brown creatives on culture.

Max and Scene In Black return to CultureCon NYC as presenting partner, hosting the VIP and talent lounges along with photo moments at the conference, in addition to bringing an exciting conversation to the CultureCon stage. Max shares an unwavering support of CultureCon and shines a spotlight on creatives of color, supporting thousands of Black and Brown creatives in attendance by providing access to engaging conversations, networking, and creative inspiration.

American Express is coming to CultureCon NYC for the first time this year. Resy and American Express will present the Resy Dining Hall, featuring bites from a dynamic range of tri-state area chefs. The American Express Shop Small® Marketplace will offer attendees the opportunity to explore and shop at minority-owned businesses. The company will also sponsor an exciting and informative panel offering tips for Black creatives looking to navigate personal and professional spaces. To close the conference on Sunday, October 8, American Express will host the official CultureCon Block Party, a final opportunity for attendees to continue to build a community with each other.

Culture Rated is a Prime Video initiative that champions Black creatives, perspectives, and community, amplifying the voices and entertainment that speak authentically to the Black experience.

We will kick off the week with “We C You,” a celebration of changemakers who move the culture forward at the Boom Boom Room at the top of The Standard Hotel.

At CultureCon, we are spotlighting some of our upcoming movies: The Burial (Prime Video release date October 13), starring Jamie Foxx and Jurnee Smollett; Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story (Prime Video release date November 17) directed by our Culture Stage panelists Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz; and Candy Cane Lane (Prime Video release date December 1) starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross. Director Reginald Hudlin will share an exclusive sneak peek via a special recorded intro.

Stop by the Culture Rated Activation Alley experience that will pay homage to Black entertainment, and feature a collaborative merch giveaway with Brooklyn-based BLK MKT Vintage. Kickstarter, the crowdfunding platform that creators like Spike Lee, Issa Rae, and Matthew Cherry have used to fund their creative ideas, is making its CultureCon debut. In Activation Alley, the brand will have a dedicated space that will act as an inspiration hub where creatives can find the inspo and resources they need to bring their ideas to life. adidas S.E.E.D. (School for Experiential Education in Design) is a non-traditional higher education model for women of color interested in developing the skills necessary to make a meaningful career in footwear design. The program is 2 years in duration where students are paid an hourly wage with benefits as they develop the design and leadership skills necessary to enter the sneaker industry as an entry level footwear designer. Students learn about design through working on products that go to market with the teams responsible for making this happen. Our open-source instruction model means students are learning and receiving mentorship from some of the industry’s greatest talent from inside and outside of the adidas brand.
