We’re honored to highlight an amazing author, Principal Consultant and Strategist Shanee’ C Morgan, PsyD who is always willing to tell her stories to encourage and empower others.
What do you define as success?
Dr. Shanee’: For me, success is when you discover your passion and purpose in life, and such passion and purpose is implemented in a manner that positively and effectively helps others.
What was the inspiration behind writing your book?
Dr. Shanee’: The inspiration behind the book derived from a desire to share my personal story of overcoming severe childhood trauma, for the purpose of motivating and inspiring others to be their best selves, regardless of what they have been through. My ultimate goal is to encourage others to believe in their ability to succeed through healing, growth, hard work and a desire to overcome as well.
What would you say to someone who wants to write a book, but is struggling to get started?
Dr. Shanee’: Writing a book is not an easy task; yet it is very possible. The best advice I can give to a person who wants to write a book is to develop an action plan to include your goals for the book; including a realistic time frame. When beginning my book, I started organizing my thoughts by putting events in chronological order. Then, I begin to develop a table of contents, which is the basis for organizing the story. Ultimately, if you want to write a book, you must first get started!
What makes your business unique?
Dr. Shanee’: My business is unique because I offer multiple services, such as motivational speaking, life coaching, and business consulting. However, I am not your typical business owner, who was provided a head start, handout, or any other assistance. I have 20+ years of experience in various capacities of social and behavioral sciences, but most importantly, I am relatable to many clients that I have assisted or will assist in the future because I am a walking testimony and proof that you can come from the very bottom and still rise above the expectorations set for you, based on past/current life experiences.
Do you believe in work- life balance? If so how do you maintain it?
Dr. Shanee’: I believe in work life balance. In fact, I actually offer a professional development training on the importance of work -life balance. I maintain work-life balance by setting boundaries. I have hours that I am available to dedicate time for work, and time that I dedicate to myself and family.Though I am flexible, I do not compromise my time with my family for work. However, when working, I work in excellence; always given 100%, so all tasks get done in a timely manner.
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Dr. Shanee’: My best advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs is to discover your passion and purpose in life, and prepare yourself to step out on faith in preparation to invest your time in doing what you truly feel you were called to do. If you always have an action plan (goals), and you’re prepared to put in the work, you cannot fail.
Who is your business role model? Why?
Dr. Shanee’: My business role model is Dr. Marie Mercadel-Brown, mainly because she is skilled, experienced, and driven. She has been an excellent role-model, who is open to helping others make the necessary connections to enhance their ability to be successful.

About The Book “Shaken Yet Here I Stand”:
Shattered but not broken, Dr. Shaneé Morgan, shares the raw and uncut story of her journey through childhood trauma, tragedy, resilience, and healing. This shocking yet powerful memoir recalls the author’s childhood growing-up in 5th Ward Houston, Texas also known as “The Nickel,” in the midst of the crack epidemic. From the crack house to the school house, Shaneé recounts the tragic events that could’ve claimed her life, or the lives of her family if not for the grace and mercy of God. Later, realizing there was a greater purpose for her life, she set out to change the trajectory of the family cycle, by breaking generational curses and strongholds, in an effort to provide herself and her family a better life. Having to confront her past through extensive therapy allowed the author to share her tragic story to inspire and motivate other survivors to believe in their ability to succeed through healing, growth, hard work, dedication, and a desire to be their best selves, despite the tragedies and adversity they may have faced.
