National Sisters Day: A Celebration of Bond and Success With The Bowrey Sisters, Tamu and Tahirah
The Bowrey sisters, Tamu and Tahirah are a creative fashion team, self-taught real estate investors, and the first to bring mobile tent and igloo parties to Baltimore.
National Sisters Day on the first Sunday in August celebrates the unique bond between sisters. This year it falls on August 6th. What a perfect time to celebrate the two sisters that are doing amazing things in business together. Tahirah and Tamu Bowrey are taking the Baltimore area by storm and running several successful businesses.
We also celebrate the remarkable bond shared by Tamu and Tahirah. Their journey as sisters turned entrepreneurs is a testament to their unwavering support and encouragement for each other. Their success story not only resonates with aspiring entrepreneurs but also serves as an inspiration to cherish and nurture strong sibling relationships. Separately, they have been successful in other realms of business.
Tamu’s Talent and Professionalism
Tamu, known for her skill as a seamstress and designer, has earned a reputation for her impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail. With every piece she creates, she combines artistry and functionality, resulting in garments that exude both style and quality. Her dedication to her craft has not only garnered her credibility but has also allowed her to establish herself as a professional within the fashion industry.
Tahirah’s Entrepreneurial Ventures
Tahirah’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond the sartorial world. Tahirah’s self-taught expertise in real estate investing has not only added another dimension to their entrepreneurial pursuits but has also provided a solid foundation for their business ventures.
What is it like working side by side with your sister?
Tahirah: It actually debunks the saying ‘Never do business with family’. Three out of four of my businesses are with my sister and honestly, it works well for us. Although the bickering is to the 100th degree, so are our results. We both know our roles, promote our strengths and call each other out on our weaknesses. We’re able to be blunt and direct and never let it affect our relationship. She’s one of the few people I can be 100 with, including the bad, and not have to apologize or focus on the feelings because we share the same goal and vision.
