Hi Kee Kee, we are excited to sit down with you today. Please tell us about your upbringing and what it was like for you growing up in Philadelphia, PA.

Kee-Kee: I love Philly, I was born and raised in South Philly. I am one of 12 children. The 3rd oldest child and the oldest girl. We had very humble beginnings. We were raised in church I was saved baptized at 10 years old.

What keeps you motivated to continue your journey as a she is a author, songwriter, intercessor, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and all-around trailblazer?

Kee-Kee: All that I do, I do it as unto God and block everything else out. When you begin to look at people you begin to sink, get sidetracked and off course. I keep my focus on the one who gave me my marching orders.

What can you share with us about Take Knowtes with Kee Kee Barber?

Kee-Kee: Take Knowtes with Kee Kee Barber is a play on words. Take knowtes means take Note of this Knowledge. My daughter Gionna is responsible for the spelling and bringing the two words together. Take Knowtes is a space where I talk about everything from God, to real estate, to entrepreneurship, to parenting, to investing, to marriage and whatever else I have experienced throughout my journey that could shed light for someone else on the necessary methodologies they can use for a successful outcome.

We’re also excited to hear about your book titled, “G.R.I.T.T.Y. What can our readers learn from this book?

Kee-Kee: G.R.I.T.T.Y is an acronym for Greatness revealed in tough times through Yahweh. It is part one of my journey that I have taken from a child to an adult. All of the heartaches, pains, and pitfalls as well as the successes and triumphs. And realizing how it shapes you and makes you better and stronger than ever. God has a funny way of growing us sometimes. This book talks about the hard stuff like molestation, lack, debt the weight of the world on your shoulders but how you can make it through with God.

What are you most excited about for in 2023?

Kee-Kee: I am excited for the overflow. The completion of some real estate projects, a new book titled Always-Never a book of a mother sharing all of her advice and experiences with her daughter, packed with advice and scriptures and stories for days lol.

We’ve recently celebrated International Black Women’s History Month! What are some of your future goals that would help empower women of color?

Kee-Kee: I have Hey sis, I like your shoes, where our mission is to S.H.O.E — Showcase, Honor, Offer Opportunity, and Encouragement to women from all walks of life. We also have our Virtual Village that we are kicking off to help parents in whatever area they need to better assist with rearing their children.
