Diamond Brown Discusses Inspiration and Success as CEO of Diamond’s Body Care
Diamond Brown is the founder & CEO of Diamond’s Body Care. Her motivation for formulating hydrating, plant-based body care products grew as a result of not being able to find a suitable product on the market to help soothe her husband’s skin due to the harsh effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer.
Diamond discovered that part of her healing process involved time in her lab, continuing the work to create clean products with simple ingredients. We spoke with Diamond about her success.
What do you define as success?
Diamond: Success to me is hearing the stories of how my products impact lives. It brings a sense of accomplishment to know through body care I’m making a difference in the world. I value that more than monetary gain. Money comes and goes however to donate 10% of my proceeds to a cancer survivor is more fulfilling than buying a designer handbag. That is what success is to me.
What was the inspiration behind your brand?
Diamond: My inspiration was my husband. He had a problem with dehydrated skin from the chemotherapy and radiation. I felt like it was my responsibility as his wife to solve that problem since I felt helpless that I couldnt cure him from cancer. So I worked diligently to provide comfort wherever I could which was through caring for his skin.
How do you differentiate your business from the competition?
Diamond: Of course, I’m often compared to other brands. My customers state that my brand is different not just because of the luxury unique packaging, and plant-based ingredients, but the physiological effects of how my products lift their spirit and mood when using it. Deeming my products their “good stuff” that they can’t live without it. Those that meet me in person at expos or pop-ups find that I’m down to earth and genuinely care about them not just out here trying to make money.
