Big Talking Charmer: Brooklyn Queen
Being a young girl growing up in the spotlight can have its challenges, but not for Brooklyn Queen, who is a rising superstar in the entertainment industry. A multi-industry creative, she is confident and thriving in the spotlight – achieving success as both a musician and an actress. Her powerful voice has captivated audiences everywhere, and she has a knack for crafting catchy tunes that get stuck in your head long after you’ve heard them. Whether she’s wowing fans with her electrifying live performances or releasing new singles that rack up millions of streams, Brooklyn Queen has proven she is one to watch. From solidifying a lead role on Brat TV’s Charmers to her new music, “Big Talker,” she is cementing her place as one of the biggest up-and-coming sensations in the entertainment industry.
I had the chance to sit down with the teen singer and actress Brooklyn Queen, and I was immediately struck by her infectious energy and vibrant personality. From the very start of the interview, she was passionate about her work and spoke candidly about her journey in the entertainment industry.
You are a very busy young woman. What does Brooklyn Queens’ day-to-day look like?
A day to day with me is work but fun at the same time because I love what I do. My typical day might include recording in the studio, making content for all my social media platforms, learning scripts, having team meetings with BMB, and still having to fit in school, chores, working out, and just being a teenager! It’s a lot, but I get it done.
As far as I’m concerned I’m very fortunate. I get to live out my dreams and express myself creatively and make a living while doing it. I was raised to recognize and appreciate my many blessings.
I’m very thankful for my label BMB Entertainment and my entire team who also work to push my brand and drive my career on a day-to-day basis as well!
You have grown up in the eye of your fans and media. How hard has this been for you as a creative and young actress?
My fans are like family to me; we are growing up together. I am so grateful for their support. They have shown me, love, since I was like 11 years old – now that I’m older, they are too, so I don’t think it’s hard at all.
I wasn’t forced to be a star, I like to think I was born to shine! So even as a very little girl, I jumped at every opportunity to show off my talent and be in the light. I’ve always loved to sing, dance and act so it was natural for me. I consider the opportunity to do what I love to be such a blessing, so doing it and growing up in the public eye is just part of it and why I feel so connected to my fans aka family.
You are an actress, rapper, songwriter, and dancer. Which is your favorite and why?
OMG, I can’t choose! I literally love doing it all! But if I had to define it, I’d say I love “performing” in general because I can showcase all of my talents, whether on stage or on the screen. As an actress, I can be a totally different person, and tap into different aspects of my personality. As a songwriter, I can express myself deeply and tap into things and issues that are on my mind and my heart. As a dancer, I can have fun with my girls and just release some steam.
What do you feel is the most challenging part of your career thus far?
The most challenging part of my career would have to be being away from my family in Detroit, I stay in LA with my mom now, and we go back and forth. I was raised in a closely-knit family. To me, family is everything, and we make sacrifices like being away from them and missing holidays and birthdays to follow my dreams.
I just hope that my friends and family understand that I am pursuing my passion and I’m determined to be successful and that requires a serious work ethic. Sometimes my mom and I don’t even get a chance to unpack our suitcases before we have to head back to the airport. But I asked for this life, I love what I do, and I am doing it for my family as well. So yes it can be challenging to keep up with the demands, but it’s all worth it and I have every faith that it will pay off in the long run!
As a young creative, what are three words of wisdom you would give to younger girls who want to grow up to be like you?
JUST BE YOURSELF.
LET NOTHING AND NO ONE WILL STOP YOU.
FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS NO MATTER WHAT!
What do you have coming up that you would like to share?
I have new singles, “Big Talker” and “Throw Sum” on my label BMB Records, I wrapped filming season two of Charmers on Brat TV, which is coming out this Summer, and I am looking forward to touring and performing all around the country this year!
