We Empower Magazine Presents… Dear Mom Series (Mother’s We’ve Lost) With Chaundra Scott. Dedicated to her beloved Mother, Sandra Smith Durant (December 16, 1950-March 2, 2015).

Dear Mom,

Your presence on earth is truly missed. I often hear your favorite songs and envision your smile & dance. I see your beautiful face in my dreams. I hear your voice when I’m making most decisions. Your input, thoughts, and prayers are missed with every life event that I have been forced to make without you. They say that time heals but it really doesn’t. Time helps me to cherish your memories even more with each new day. Time is the inevitable process that continues to go on without you.

I look at Aubrey and envision you being a proud “Gi-Gi”. I strive to keep your memory alive in our hearts each day. Your life touched so many and I’m often reminded of how your spirit is missed. I can’t have you here but I value your spirit being alongside me everyday. As I cook some of your passed down recipes, your hands guide me in the kitchen. When I parent Aubrey each day, your stern yet soothing touch lives in my heart.

As I aspire to accomplish my dreams and goals, I hear your voice cheering me on. While you’re no longer on earth I cherish the notion of you walking around Heaven and smiling down. I’m thankful for the years that we had and I hope to make you proud. You taught me a lot about life and I strive to always keep you in my heart, thoughts, and dreams. I’ll love you forever.

With Thanks and Love,

Your Daughter
