Women in Media Spotlight: Co-Host of F2G Radio, Amber J

Amber Jones, also known as Amber J is taking the world by storm one smile at a time. She is passionate about people growing in their level of comfortability with their calling. Helping others realize that their uniqueness is a blessing and not a curse is one of her assignments on earth.

Amber always found herself in a position of support and in doing that, found her voice. One act of service is her work as the Chief Operating Officer of Faithful To God Entertainment. Here, she strives to create safe spaces for creatives to nurture and flourish in their purpose. Amber prides herself on her level of transparency concerning her walk and relationship with the Lord. You can also hear her on the air as a m and the host of her own show, Get Lifted.

When she’s not working the airways, you can find her in her backyard with her beehives! Yes, she is a backyard beekeeper and owner of Bee Strong Honey LLC. Above all else, Amber is the mother of a beautiful boy named Michael. Ultimately, everything that she does is to show her son that obedience is better than sacrifice and that all things truly work together for the good of them that love Christ.

We Empower Magazine got an exclusive interview with Amber.

If someone were to ask you who is Amber J, what would your reply be?

Amber: Amber J is a quiet storm. She is that sudden gust of wind that can change an entire atmosphere. Now, I did not always think of myself in that way but once I saw how my smile or my laugh could shift a space, I knew that I had to protect it for the sake of others I might encounter in the future.

Why do you think it’s vital for black women to have their own businesses?

Amber: There’s something about owning something. Ownership amongst black women is not normal. A black woman owning something is seen as an anomaly. Ownership gives you a new level of accountability, responsibility, wisdom, focus, and foresight. We already know that black women are incredibly strong but, we usually only get to flex our strength as it relates to trauma. Seeing black women display strength in a positive light is important because it needs to become the new normal. If we can get 1 out of every 5 black women to own a piece of something and manage it and nurture it, the world would be a better place. Ownership ends poverty. Ownership is what ends the slave mentality.

Happy Women’s History Month! How are some women in history who inspire you?

Amber: Two women that I absolutely love are Billie Holiday and Hattie McDaniel. Both women were good stewards of their platforms. They did not bow to the norms of their time, and they left a legacy of “I Am A Black Woman, Hear Me Roar!” It’s an amazing feeling to come from women that knew who they were and what they were to the black community.

Please tell our readers about the services you provide as an entrepreneur?

Amber: Honey doesn’t just go in tea. Honey is such a useful substance, and I am here to provide families with various honey products that can reduce inflammation, anxiety, suppress coughs or add flavor to a meal. I also want to educate those who have a fear of bees that they are not the horrible killer bees that have been portrayed in films. Bees are supernatural creatures and there are ways in which we can help them to continue to thrive in our ecosystem.

When you think of women’s empowerment, what comes to mind?

Amber: Knowing who and what I am in Christ comes to mind. Trying to find myself and my purpose outside of him always led to me helping everyone else except myself. When I believed that I am who God says I am, nothing could stop me. Realizing that you are more than a sister, a daughter, and a mother is vital! You can be something outside of a caregiver. You are the answer to someone’s problem!

What does 2022 look like for you?

Amber: It looks like the establishment of my legacy. Male children are usually the ones destined to carry things on but for me, I know that what I am building will establish wealth, health, and wisdom for years to come. 2022 is all about putting my confidence in the one who made me and keeping my expectations high. 2022 is not a year to fail but a year to succeed!

What else can we be on the lookout for?

Amber: Please be on the lookout for some informational videos about my beautiful bees, the launch of our website, and our summer product launch! Things are moving and moving quickly. Everyone can also follow me on Instagram at Bee Strong Honey.

What advice would you have for aspiring businesswomen?

Amber: Your dreams are too small! Dream bigger! Do not go into this new experience with an old mentality and expectation. God’s plan is always higher than ours and we do ourselves a disservice by not dreaming bigger and building our faith in what God has called us to.
