President Obama Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, Dr. Missy Johnson Becomes Screenwriter for Upcoming BET Original Movie

Dr. Missy Johnson, BET screenwriter, speaker, coach, and 3x Amazon bestselling author was a rising star in one of America’s Fortune 100 companies, and everything looked perfect from the outside. Suddenly her life changed, and she lost everything she ever believed in or achieved. With a 3% chance of living after a 60 MPH car accident, 47 days in a coma, falling twelve feet, marriage falling apart, and later being diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer; she asked God for one more chance. With that one more chance, Dr. Missy turned her tragedies into triumphs to create transformation for herself and others worldwide. She is the CEO of Fearless Women Rock LLC, a platform created for women to share their courageous stories through books and brands.

We Empower Magazine got an exclusive interview with Dr. Missy Johnson.

Dr. Missy Johnson

What inspired you to become a screenwriter?

In college, I minored in journalism and theater and was good at it. I told everyone that Denzel Washington would be my leading actor. Well, life happened. After being quiet for so long before the coma and three near-death experienced, I decided to tell my story to impact others and let them know to never quit on you. You have a story to tell and you need to tell it. Becoming a screenwriter is where I could make my biggest impact.

How did you get involved with creating content for BET?

BETher has healthcare initiatives every year. Someone knew my story and suggested sending them a script. Not my story but an original screenplay.

What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?

I enjoy empowering and inspiring women to become fearless and live life on their own terms. Create your own yellow brick road.

What are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?

Receiving the President Obama Lifetime Achievement Award, Michigan Chronicle women of excellence award, and coming out of my coma. I will never forget that day. Forty-seven days in a coma and I came out 2 two before Christmas.

In what ways does Fearless Women Rock LLC make a difference in the world?

It creates a safe, non-judgment platform for women to write their stories and become world-class speakers from my platform. Change the mindset, build a sisterhood and help each other rise without compromise.
