New Orleans Entrepreneur Brooke Jones Goes From Bars to Boss Earning Over $3 Million in Two Years With Her Intimacy Wellness Brand
Three years ago many counted out 33-year old Brooke Jones, owner of The Hidden Vault adult wellness brand, based on the attention she gained from her social media content featuring the federal ankle bracelet which publicly branded her history with the law.
Today, having reached multi-millionaire status, Brooke has turned the attention she received while awaiting sentencing and seeking redemption into over $3 million dollars in profit from her line of adult intimacy products, speaking engagements as a successful entrepreneur, and the sales of her debut novel:
From Bars to Boss. The book follows Brooke’s journey from childhood trauma and 12 arrests to developing a multi-million dollar product line. Leaning into Brooke’s desire to give back, From Bars to Boss also outlines the steps for launching a successful business, in hopes of inspiring people wishing to access seven figures to follow their dreams, regardless of the decisions of their past.
Having mastered the art of social media marketing, influencer promotion, and following your dreams, Brooke continues to motivate her followers by sharing raw content highlighting her successes as a business owner and her continued personal growth.
We Empower Magazine got an exclusive interview with Brooke Jones.
Please tell us about when The Hidden Vault came about?
Brooke: The Hidden Vault came about when I noticed a need for wellness products that improved intimacy experiences, especially for the millennial and Gen-X crowd. I started off by building a brand called Keep It Kute which focused more on women’s intimacy products such as lingerie and sex toys. The brand did well but I also built my social media brand at the same time and learned more and more about my audience.
Since my following was more male than female, I quickly learned that men were looking for something as well. Men and women were very open about sharing their issues with stamina in the bedroom and so it made sense for me to develop a product line around that. Being discreet in being able to purchase products online and having them packaged in a discreet manner was important to my customer, so the name was formed around the need to develop products that could go in anyone’s Hidden Vault. Basically, I was interested in meeting the needs of my audience and from there came The Hidden Vault.
What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
Brooke: Being an entrepreneur brings a whole lot of freedom that I did not have before. It’s not that I quit a 9–5 to work shorter hours when I became an entrepreneur but more that I have more flexibility in how I spend my time.
I love what I do, from the social media aspect; to the development of new products; to making sure my employees get paid; and I have the freedom to do those things, my way.
I also have freedom in the amount of income and generational wealth that I bring in for my children since the only salary cap is the one I make when I choose how much time I will dedicate to growing my brand.
How has your journey been so far as an author? What can you tell us about your books?
Brooke: The journey as an author has been amazing. I have a unique story and I wanted to share it. I wanted to motivate others. From Bars to Boss, my first project shares my story going literally from Bars to Boss; from being in jail to being a multi-millionaire.
It follows me on my journey through childhood, being arrested over ten times, and my fight to freedom while growing my brand, The Hidden Vault. I give tips on building a business and using social media as a marketing tool in the book as well. I have been getting great feedback on the book being both empowering and inspiring to those who have read it.
What are you currently working on or have coming up?
Brooke: I am always working on ways to grow my brand and that involves new products and new ventures. I have expanded to open my second store location and I just purchased a warehouse to meet the growing demands of my customers.
Black Friday is a big day for my brand, so I am currently in planning mode for that. As far as writing goes, I have more to share and I do plan on sharing it soon. Since releasing From Bars to Boss, so much more has happened that can inspire someone else to go for their dreams.
In what ways do you use your platform to empower others?
Brooke: I share everything. Some may say that I overshare but I make sure the good, the bad, and the ugly are all covered on my social media platforms and in my book. I think being honest about where I come from and sharing where I plan on going is how I empower others.
My life is literally an open book. I respond to DMs and comments. I also engage in public speaking opportunities including panels and live opportunities with blog pages to provide that space for people to ask me questions.
What is a super fun fact about yourself that many may not be aware of?
Brooke: This is hard because like I said, I share everything. I think one fun fact about me is that I can cook. I talk a lot about how I grew up in my book but one thing that I can say is that my grandmother and the women around me taught me a lot about cooking and I can definitely throw down in the kitchen. No matter how busy I get with my brand, being able to cook a home-cooked meal for my family in my kitchen is something that is very special to me.
What do you want your legacy to look like?
Brooke: My legacy is going to be proving to my kids and to the world that a Black woman, especially someone who has been in trouble with the law, can tap into a multi-billion dollar industry and dominate it with their own product.
Representation is so important and in many fields, we don’t really see many people like myself thriving. I remain the face of my brand because I want people to know color, background, age, circumstances, etc. don’t matter, we just need to believe in ourselves and our abilities to change the way the world sees us.
