What when into your decision to attend Clark Atlanta University?
It has always been my aspiration to attend an HBCU. Being from up north it was always been my desire to head down south and experience the culture. With Clark Atlanta being a great media school having alums such as Kenya Barris and Spike Lee who are moguls in the industry, Clark Atlanta only made sense.
How has your journey been so far as a communications major at a HBCU?
Now that I am in my senior year at Clark Atlanta University, my journey has been nothing short of amazing. Attending an HBCU my peers and I, are motivated to graduate and excel in this industry and represent our community well. Our professors constantly motivate us to be the next Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer and create that diversity in the industry. It is important to me to break that mold for Black people and Black women. Representation is vital, to show the next upcoming students if I can do it, you can do it too.
How was the transition for you from Delaware to Atlanta?
Being from the small town of Dover, DE transitioning was not easy. When I came to Atlanta my freshman year in 2018, I had no idea what I was truly getting myself into. I had to get used to living in a major city and meeting other people from other major cities such as Chicago, LA, NYC. Transitioning was something I had to go through alone. Slowly but surely I got my routine down packed. I definitely consider Atlanta my new Home!
Where do you see yourself post-graduation?
I see myself post-graduation having my hand in every jar. Whether that is working for a PR firm, working for a record label, or even doing social media marketing for a major company. One of the many pros of being a communication major is that the opportunities are endless. There is always a job that needs to be done. A team that needs someone to take their project from great to phenomenal.
What are you looking forward to?
Right now, I am currently looking forward to graduating in May 2022. It has been a long journey at Clark Atlanta. I am ready to receive my degree and give the media world my full and undivided attention!
