Esso, (Randall Parker) was born in Bronx, New York, and raised in South Jamaica Queens. In his early years, he was an athlete. Recruited as a basketball and baseball player, but chose basketball at A.Philip Randolph High School in Harlem eventually becoming Top 60 point guard in the country. He attended Morgan State University on an academic scholarship studying Political Science and minoring in Accounting, with the intentions of learning about the music business.
While in college, Parker started to promote parties, concerts, events with the likes of Jay Z, Fabolous, Diddy, and DJ Clue. Upon graduation, he landed a management position with Cory Rooney Entertainment, overseeing producers Loren Dawson and Troy Oliver on projects such as JLO, Ginuwine, Jessica Simpson, and Marc Anthony.
Hi Randall it is a pleasure to interview you today. Please tell us about the work that you do?
Esso: Right now, I’m in media. I do interviews for Thisis50 & HotNewHipHop. I’m a cast member on a YouTube tv show called 8 At The Table. And I just dropped my new single “Nasa’ featuring King YK.
What do you enjoy most about your career?
Esso: I really enjoy the freedom & flexibility. I also have the ability to affect lives & I really like that.
How do you feel you make a difference in the world?
Esso: The information I provide truth television, interviews & music is all reality. Not what people want to hear but what they need to hear.
What are some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Esso: I have many memories. But the biggest was when I was a manager of super-producer Rockwilder & we had sessions with Dr. Dre, and Dre called me the best & most complete manager he had ever met. My greatest compliment ever!
What are you currently working on?
Esso: I’m working on my new career In television & setting up to drop my EP w/ King YK.
What is a quote that you live by?
Esso: Teamwork makes the dream work is what I live by .
What are you looking forward to?
Esso: I’m looking forward to people seeing the creative side of what I have to offer. Like I said in my “NASA” record. I’m putting the business behind the creative.
