Tammy Reese: Please tell us about the “The Shay OmyGod Experience” show?

Shay OmyGod:  The Shay OmyGod Experience Show, is a variety show that includes guests that are Hip Hop, and R&B artists. We definitely appreciate the arts such as dancers, comedians, poetry, and spoken word. It represents fun and being free-spirited, it shows that every moment with Shay is an experience. We also strive to be a platform for new up-and-coming artists that has substance to their music and their brands.

We dive into some social issues, pop culture, empowering women, uplifting our men, and allowing people to be their authentic selves. We try to keep the shows PG-13 so people of all ages can watch and enjoy it. We’re hoping we can inspire someone to push for their dreams.  We are available on all media platforms, but please check us out at The MJ Own Network which is broadcasted from Roku TV with over 50 Million subscribers in 2021.

Tammy Reese: What other amazing projects and endeavors are you currently involved with our working on

Shay OmyGod:  A few things actually, I am working on my 6th business “Spotlight 360 Photobooth” which has been established to help my kids learn how to become entrepreneurs. This photo booth will be very monumental in keeping them focused and busy. Besides the booth, I have other businesses Shay OmyGod LLC, Yahs Entertainment LLC, Hu$tle Gurl By Shay OmyGod LLC, Kode Wit It Klothing LLC, Shay Networking & Media Solution LLC and I’m a 25% owner of a new apparel store coming called ATL which stands for A Trusted Lifestyle Brand coming in July.

Needless to say, I am a very busy lady but acting is also on my radar. So please check them out on Amazon Prime “The Mule” by Mula fIlms and “The Yousers” by Darren Brown. I’m also going to Cali soon to be in a film out there as well.

Tammy Reese: What brought you from Detroit to Atlanta?

Shay OmyGod: I did all that I could do in Detroit, it was time for me to grow and become something more. I knew I couldn’t be seen from the world there and Atlanta is the Hollywood of the South. I am also ready to pursue my acting career. We all know Atlanta is a great place to start and it’s more affordable than California.

Besides my last living grandparents (my dad’s mom & her husband) live in Alabama and I wanted to be closer to them. Unexpectedly, not due to covid, I’ve lost both parents in November 2019 and November 2020 so it’s a little comforting knowing I’m less than a few hours away from them. So it’s Nowhere but Up from Here!

Tammy Reese: What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?

Shay OmyGod: I enjoy taking people’s minds away from their everyday headaches, hurts, worries and frustrations. I enjoy making them smile and having a good time. I want them to have an experience with me for that moment in time while I have their attention. I love making a difference in a positive way. Because I love what I do so much, it feels effortless!

Tammy Reese: How did the name “Networking & Microphone Diva” come about?

Shay OmyGod: I have always been passionate about small businesses and had a gift of gab. In my early radio days, I would network with small businesses to give them an outlet to promote their brands. Knowing that I  had this ability, people would say, “You know you are networking your butt off.” Hence the Networking Diva.

Then as I grew in radio and became a co-host of a new morning show, the station’s producers felt that it would’ve been a conflict of interest for me to be named Shay “OmyGod” when there was already a radio personality with God in their name. Charlamagne “The God” was and still is a big name in radio, who happens to have one of the best morning shows in the country.

So they really didn’t want any issues from that and they gave me a few options to choose from… Microphone Diva it was, especially since I am fierce when it comes to being on the microphone in any capacity. Whether it’s being on the radio or hosting an event in front of a crowd.

Tammy Reese: What have been some of the proudest moments in your career so far?

Shay OmyGod: Hosting for big-name celebrities such as Ice Cube, Tank, Big Sean, and more. Then interviewing Snoop Dog and mentoring over 3000 students in Detroit and working with the Detroit Police Department. Commanding a  crowd is always interesting. Another proud moment is knowing that I held a 4 1/2 year residency at the largest club in the city. I’ve also hosted the fashion show at the Ultimate Women’s Expo in Atlanta 2 years in a row.

Tammy Reese: Why do you think it’s important to have women empowerment agencies such as Being That Girl in our current climate?

Shay OmyGod: Women are the backbone to all that exist, we are the ones that keep it moving no matter what for our men, our children, our sisters, our friends, and more. When the fathers are gone, who still deals with it all and holds it together? We do! Women need something that celebrates us on any level. It’s important to have that support system when your self-esteem is down or when things just don’t feel right. That girl encourages one another that it will be alright. They also have resources that can help.

Tammy Reese: When you think of women empowerment, what comes to mind?

Shay OmyGod: I think about how my female ancestors came before me and fought for us to get this far. I think about how I can work harder to encourage the next sister to love and empower the next one. I think about how I need to keep pulling back for the younger ones who are lost in this society, sometimes our more seasoned ladies are just as lost too, and build them up with all the knowledge and strength that I have. If one wins we all can win!

Tammy Reese: What are you looking forward to?

Shay OmyGod: I wanted to quit after losing both my parents, I had no willpower or drive for this lifestyle anymore. My motivation was completely ripped from my body like I felt my parents were ripped from my life. It took many people to remind me of how it was time for me to go to my next level in this business.

They said, “I have been able to make so many people smile and motivate them and that I shouldn’t let that go because God has a bigger calling  on my life.” I am wondering what God has next for me, it’s only up from here! That’s what I am looking forward to, whose life can I change now!

Tammy Reese: What else would you like for our readers to know about the work that you do?

Shay OmyGod: One of my passions is mentoring young girls, I really do care about how they are being raised. I need them to understand that they are so beautiful without all the extras that they add to themselves. Self Love is so important to them, to everyone including our young men. They’re all lost and trying to find themselves in a world that is so judgmental. I hope that when they see me they can relate to me and know that they are loved.

Anytime I have a young King or Queen come up to me and tell me how they appreciate me and look up to me, I let them know right back how much I appreciate them! Giving back in any way is my passion! The work I do rather it’s acting, modeling, hosting, etc, it’s all done out of love for the art and in hopes that I can motivate the next person to go after their dreams.

Tammy Reese: What do you want your legacy to look like?

Shay OmyGod: WOW, I never really thought about it. I just want people to know that I truly cared and wanted the best for people, especially our babies, our youth! They need us to listen without judgment and to understand their differences and be ok with them.

To guide them without harsh pretenses and without fault. I want people to see that I gave my all and held back nothing for what I wanted and believed in. To know my passion for small businesses was real, I believed in that American dream and making it a reality. I did it as a single mom with 4 kids and so can anyone else. Just Do it!

I would like to leave everyone with a quote:

“Your Passion, your Purpose and your Persistence will give you the keys to Success! You just have to want it bad enough!
