Women’s History Month Spotlight Author K. Renee

Author K. Renee was born and raised in South Carolina, and later relocated, taking her southern charm, to the City of Brotherly Love aka Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. K. Renee’s passion lies in penning page-turning Urban Romance novels and sharing them with the masses. Becoming a National Bestselling Author after publishing only three novels, K. Renee continued to be a force in the writing industry and taking the African American Romance genre by storm. To date, K. Renee has published a total of twenty-three novels, twenty-one of which have reached number one on the bestseller charts, and have had seventeen of her novels charting in the top fifty at the same time.

Author K. Renee is the Founder and CEO of K. Renee Publications, and currently has fourteen authors signed under her. K. Renee has not only focused on her own success but has been moved to mentor other authors in the African American Romance genre, assisting them in cultivating their natural talent. Thus, in fulfilling her passion to uplift fellow authors, and share her knowledge, K. Renee Publications came to fruition. Currently, each of the fourteen authors under K. Renee Publications has charted in the top ten of the bestseller’s list. K. Renee Publications is vastly growing and making a name for itself.

Currently enjoying the balance of the fast-paced city life and the relaxed southern vibe, Author K. Renee currently resides in Delaware where she enjoys spending time with her family. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, strong family ties are important to K. Renee. Also having a passion for uplifting women, not only in the writing industry, K. Renee is the Founder of the women’s organization Sisterhood Diary. It is important to K. Renee to share her knowledge, be a positive force in her personal and professional life, and inspire greatness for the next generation.

We Empower Magazine got an exclusive interview with K. Renee.

Tammy Reese: How does it feel to be a National Best Selling Author?

Author K. Renee: Becoming a National bestselling Author is an amazing feeling and a phenomenal accomplishment. Everyone has dreams and goals they would like to accomplish in life, but when those dreams turn into reality, it is a feeling that is indescribable.

Every day I feel blessed and thankful for being able to accomplish something so important to me.

Tammy Reese: What inspired you to become an Author?

Author K. Renee: I have enjoyed and appreciated reading for such a long time. The authors who have come before me are who inspired me.

As I would read my favorite authors, and kept my nose in book after book, at some point my own characters began to speak to me. I couldn’t ignore the urge to start creating my own world of Urban Fiction.

Tammy Reese: Please tell us about K. Renee Publications?

Author K. Renee: K. Renee Publications is a female-based publishing company with the purpose of providing a fair and equal opportunity for other authors to come in and display their love for writing. We have over
twenty-five talented authors and looking to grow the company. I take time to speak individually with each author throughout their writing process and journey.

I like to be the publisher that is hands-on and provide any assistance that I am able to my amazing authors. I think it’s important to build a relationship with the authors I sign and keep an open line of communication. Authors at K. Renee Presents will always have a voice, and I will always listen.

Tammy Reese: We would also love to hear about Sisterhood Diary.

Author K. Renee: Sisterhood Diary is an organization that I cultivated from the ground up. I want to help our communities and strengthen our women. My team consists of a diverse group of women from all different walks of life.

Together we feed the homeless, host fundraisers, and support the cause to stop domestic violence. I want the women of SHD to find and develop their inner strength, and to know that they have sisters from around the world to build a multitude of friendships and strong connections with.

Overall and most important, SHD is a tenacious organization that focus on women empowerment.

Tammy Reese: What are you currently working on?

Author K. Renee: The question many are asking! I currently have my readers on the edge of their seats as they wait for the finales of the two latest series, After the Reign and Forever My Thug

Tammy Reese: When you think of Women Empowerment, what comes to mind?

Author K. Renee: I am a strong believer in fixing one another’s crown. It may sound cliché, but I believe there are enough seats at the table for all women to win.

We as women, are resilient, embodies strength, and are overall simply magical. When I envision women empowerment, I see women, from all walks of life, doing what they need to do to thrive, but are always willing to lift others up along their journey.

Tammy Reese: It’s Women’s History Month, who are some women who inspired you to become a writer?

Author K. Renee: For me, it was the poetic words of Maya Angelou, the descriptive flare of Toni Morrison, and the theatrical urban tales of Sister Souljah and Wahida Clark that have inspired and continue to inspire me.

Tammy Reese: What advice would you have for aspiring writers?

Author K. Renee: Just as I tell my authors under me, some of which are new to the industry… keep pushing and never give up on their dreams. The same would go for aspiring authors.

Going further, I would express to aspiring authors to know their readers, understand the genre in which they are trying to break into.

Finally, and one of the most important things I would express is… celebrate! Celebrate every achievement, every accomplishment, no matter how big or small. Authors work hard, and each and every achievement is worth acknowledgment.
