Author Cadori: Finding Happiness in Loving Herself

Finding happiness after trauma can sometimes be difficult. This is certainly how things were for Cadori, who is the best-selling author of Ladies Love Yourselves First, That’s Happiness. Confronting the pain she experienced in her past, she was able to not only find her happiness, but she also decided to openly share her journey as a means for others to find their happiness, too.

In an interview with this amazing author, she opens up about her life experiences and why being in a state of happiness is an intricate part of living in your truth. It is more than forgiveness, it is healing.

Dr. G.: You have a lot of layers and have experienced lots of traumatic life events that would have broken most people, and yet, here you are standing strong. Who is Cadori that now sits on top of all of these layers?

Cadori: The CaDori that sits on top is the healed woman after years and many tears of unpacking the buried wounds since childhood and beyond. It’s taken a long time to get to this level of understanding myself and why some of the things happened the way that they happened in my life. I have had to essentially rebuild myself from the inside out from a place of understanding and compassion for some of the people who have hurt me. I had to learn that hurt people really do hurt people and if they are not healed they will continue to repeat whatever cycle they have already been doing for years meaning that if you are in the circle with these people that you will fall victim to their behavior each and every time unless you put yourself first and be honest about who people really are. So nowadays is choose me first, I love myself first and I accept people for who they truly are, and I live my life on my terms with healthy boundaries in place.

Dr. G.: Your book Ladies Love Yourselves First, That’s Happiness was recently published and has become a best-seller. What inspired this book and what was it like writing about your life?

Cadori: Ladies Love Yourselves First, That’s Happiness was inspired by both my life and the lives of many women who have been in my life or who have crossed paths with me starting with my very own mother. This book was very healing for me because I had to revisit some painful times in my life in order to tell my story truthfully and to address the unresolved issues with myself internally. I cried several times while writing this book.

Dr. G.: Was there any hesitation about being so transparent about your life and what you wanted to put out there?

Cadori: What I will say is this: once you make a decision to look at your past hurts and address them one by one, you begin to feel a sense of healing and you can finally close that door forever and you can finally live your life free from that prison of hurt and pain. The choice is now yours to no longer let that pain hold you down. I chose to live the rest of my life the way that I want to and be happier than I’ve ever been before.

I have learned that over the years that most women, no matter the race, culture, income level, or religious status that we have a lot of the same stories: that we are essentially the sacrificial lambs of society when it comes to putting others and their happiness in front of our own happiness. Most of us are raised this way and society also puts the burden on women to make everyone else feel happy before we are happy.

Dr. G.: What is next for Cadori? Are there any more books to be launched in the year to come?

Cadori: What’s next would be a stage play or movie about my life experiences, more inspirational books, speaking engagements, and television appearances. I have many ideas to share about self-love and how people can live their truth and help others to do the same.

Dr. G.: I look forward to seeing your continued success with your other books, speaking engagements, and everything else you have going on.
