The 22nd Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

It is Super Bowl weekend! ARE YOU READY FOR SOME GOSPEL MUSIC!? It is that time of year again and one event that makes its historical presence during this jammed-packed event weekend is the Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. And guess what, this is year is no different when it comes to seeing the who’s who in gospel music and sports, hearing the from some best singers in the gospel industry, and recognizing individuals who are and have been making a difference in the community. This year’s theme is “Nothing Can Stop Us” as the event will honor Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson with this year’s “Faith In Action Award,” presented by Former NFL player and Legend, Warrick Dunn (Tampa Bay Buccaneers & Atlanta Falcons).

The Super Bowl is a little different this year thanks to COVID and now more than ever inspiration is needed. Once where there was tailgating and attending events, has now turned to limited participants in spaces; and social distancing is even recommended for get-togethers for people who stay at home to watch. Health is at the forefront of everything we do right now and life cannot be taken for granted from one day to the next. This is exactly why this celebration is needed. The world watching needs to know it’s going to get better. And this exactly why John P. Kee’s new release “It’s Going To Get Better” will be performed. In this song, he lets people know better days are coming and to believe it in it. It is a song to uplift, encourage, and inspire during a time of significant loss and hardship.

In collaboration with the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, the American Cancer Society wants to raise awareness of the need to eliminate barriers to prevention and treatment in marginalized communities, which are predominantly black communities. In an interview with the National Radio & TV Personality Rickey Smiley and Pastor Gospel singer, John P Kee, they both spoke on the importance of donating and the impact it will on the Black community (see interview snippet).

If you feel inspired to donate to such a worthy cost during the show, you can text HOPE to 20222 to donate $10 to the American Cancer Society. So little can go a long way in helping those in need of prevention and treatment in a community near you or one that you live in.

Super Bowl Gospel Celebration (SBGC) is the largest multicultural event during the Super Bowl weekend. In its 22-year run as an NFL-sanctioned event, SBGC has featured artists including Patti LaBelle, Yolanda Adams, Gladys Knight, Natalie Grant, Mary Mary, Fantasia, Donnie McClurkin, Anthony Hamilton, among many others. National Radio & TV Personality Rickey Smiley will return as the host of the celebration of praise and worship.

The 22nd Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration will air on BET during Super Bowl LV week on Saturday, February 6tat 8/7c.

Make sure you tune in and spiritually turn-up! What a better way to start off the Super Bowl week than with an unforgivable night of inspiration.
