Versatile Reggae & Dancehall Artist Megah Banton

Born Garth Williams raised in Waterford Portmore, Jamaica, Megah Banton is a very unique and versatile reggae & dancehall artist. He started out at the tender age of 16 years old where he was still a student at St. Andrew Technical High School. That uniqueness, versatility, and reputation grew as a talented young DJ in the community where he began performing at local stage shows.

In the day and evenings after school, he recorded at the studio Jack Scorpio. Breaking on the scene in 1992 when he hit the Dancehall Gold with “Sound Boy Killing” a song that has rung the death kneel in many sound system clashes around the world and still does in 2021.

Other music hits of his include “Wrong or Right”, and “Decisions”, which are also Scorpio productions and many more. “Sound Boy Killing” earned Megah Banton fans across the Caribbean, United States, Africa, and Europe. Currently, he is working on some major projects to be released mid-year 2021.

Megah Banton: Unique, Talented, and Dedicated.

Tammy Reese: How has music made an impact on your life?

Megah Banton: Music has made an impact on my life because I was offered great opportunities at an early age in which a lot of artists took years to achieve.

It became easier for me to make ends meet for me and my family.

Tammy Reese: What has your journey been so far as a music artist?

Megah Banton: My journey has been great with little obstacles along the way which has made me stronger and wiser.

I was able to tour all over the world, enhance different cultures, and made a lot of fans through the love and my experience with music.

I’ve endured till now and enjoy performing for my fans.

Tammy Reese: What do you love most about the work that you do?

Megah Banton: Recording and performing.

Tammy Reese: What are you currently working on?

Megah Banton: Currently I’m working on single tracks for various producers local and abroad, a Dancehall Ep, and the One Drop Ep with a few collaborations.

Tammy Reese: What are some of your favorite songs and why?

Megah Banton: All of my songs are my favorite because I pour my heart and soul into them.

Tammy Reese: What do you think is the future of the music industry?

Megah Banton: The future of the music industry lies within the younger generation.

Tammy Reese: What else can we be on the lookout for from you?

Megah Banton: Be on the lookout for me producing, acting, my promotional apparel, and a lot more music hits.

Tammy Reese: What advice would you have for anyone who wants to become a music artist?

Megah Banton: Learn the business aspect, have a theory, be practical, and be self-motivated.

Be hard working, stay focused, and look at the whole picture, not just the frame.

Stay humble but oblivious of record deals or labels that may come your way.
